Gearing up for a Tattered House adventure

Over the Christmas Holiday I found myself in Carmel CA. A trip to the Carmel mission was particularly inspiring to me. As I walked around the grounds of the mission I felt revived by all of the spiritual statues etc..... Not to mention the beautiful gardens located throughout the mission grounds. I came home with a sense of renewal and inspiration for creating more recycled products made from tires. I was also inspired this month at the Alameda Point antique and collectible show. I had a customer

come up to my booth and tell me how much she loved the tire chandelier that her and her husband bought from me last Spring. She wanted to tell me that she loved it and enjoys it every time she is out in her garden. I love to hear that people are inspired and feel good when they are enjoying creations that I have made. I am also excited that I will be joining my friends once again at the Tattered House. I will be a vendor at the Tattered House once again. Look for my collection to be at the Tattered House by the end of the month. The Tattered House is located at 417 Oak Street Roseville. I will keep you posted on the happenings there. Euro - Linens

These are some great Euro-Linens that i love. Danny and Eric are a great couple that import these great linens. I met them at the Alameda point antique and collectible show. Their linens are great. The craftsmanship is amazing too. These linens will help give you that extra edge to feel like you are really at home. The kind of linens that make you not want to get out of bed in the morning. We have been busy creating new tire pot products. It is a great joy to have a product that creates something functional and unique and at the same time is helping to save the environment from excessive land fill. As Spring is in the air. This is a great time to make something beautiful out of a recycled tire. As the Summer is approaching we have several shows in the works. Stay tuned for more information on up coming shows. As Alameda is approaching once again this month on the 7th. I have realized it has been quite some time since I have updated the blog. Last month was a beautiful month in Alameda. I hope this weather will surprise us this month as the forcast isn't looking too promising. I have been staying busy with the new Brown Dog Cottage Studio. I will post more on this soon. New to Brown Dog Cottage! Tire Flower Pots!

A great joy to living the vintage lifestyle comes in reclaiming that which was intended to be used and thrown away. Brown Dog Cottage is pleased to share with you our newest creation. Flower pot's made from reclaimed tires. Tires are not made out of the most biodegradable materials. So, we are using our own creative way to help contribute to living in an Eco friendly environment. Tire flower pot's are a fun, creative way to do this. These pot's are available at the Tattered House in Roseville or at our monthly space in Alameda. Space # J-22. Flower Farm Loomis, CA

Becky and I found a little treasure area in Loomis, CA called the Flower farm. As some of you may know Becky and I were married down in Carmel, CA and lived and worked down there for several years. That being said, we got a little spoiled, with all the great food and great places the Carmel area has to offer. One afternoon Becky and I decided to go have lunch at a different spot. Not the usual strip mall restaurant or anything familiar. We ended up at the Flower farm. The Flower farm consist of a B&B, Nursery and coffee house. As well as an event center that is available for weddings etc.... I am sure I am missing something else that the Flower farm does. It is just an amazing place. So, Becky and I ended up having an amazing lunch overlooking the pond with the sound of a bull frog in the background under a weeping willow tree. While we were there we noticed several people had their dog with them. We even witnessed the owner giving someones dog a treat. So, this weekend we took Hugo Francis for a ride to the Flower farm. The owner wasn't there! But, don't worry one of the nice girls from the Coffee shop brought Hugo some fresh Boars head roast beef. This is just a great place to take your family to and just take a step back and relax. I think this is just a unknown gem. the Flower farm is located at 4150 Auburn Folsom Rd. Loomis, CA 95650. Alameda June 7th 2009

Becky and I just returned back from a great day in Alameda. The sun was shinning, we were in a beautiful location, it was Becky's birthday! We sold next to our friends at the Tattered House again. Well, one of our friends and her sister. Erika one of the owners of the Tattered House was on a beach somewhere in FL sitting back and enjoying the lazy beach life. However, back home in a much cooler place we were enjoying our time on the former Navy base which is now home to the Alameda Antique show. Or as we usually call it just "Alameda." the shoppers were out in full force and totally happy to be out enjoying a beautiful day. We always enjoy such a great crowd down there. We are trying to get a regular space down there. Since we have been doing the show monthly now for several months some of the regulars have been asking us when we will have a permanent space. But, we do have a permanent space, In Roseville CA. We are inside of the Tattered House located at 417 Oak Street Roseville, CA 95678. For those of you that have not had a chance to stop by the Tattered House stop by and say Hi. Alameda May 2009

May was a very wet day down in Alameda. Becky and I read the weather forcast and almost decided against selling in Alameda this month. However, at the last minute we decided to pack up the Volvo wagon and purchase a tent and head down to the rainy bay. It actually ended up being a nice day down in the bay. We were happy to find out that because of all of the rain and the many cancellations we were able to get a spot next to Ericka and Sandy the owners of the Tattered House in historic Roseville. We were also thrilled that our good friends Eric and Katie as well as Eric's Mom made it down to the show. I had a great day finding many treasures myself. After it was all said and done a little rain mixed in with many great friendships turned out to be a great day. We will be selling in Alameda for the next event on June 7th. Nicaragua City Dump Tour May 2009

Becky and I will be heading to Nicaragua towards the end of May to go on a tour of the city dump. This dump is actually the home to many Nicaraguan men, women and children. It is our hope to bring a little joy to these people. We will be bringing a few suitcases full of soccer balls as a way to bring a little light into this dark place. I have a connection that is selling me soccer balls at close to cost. If you would like to help up bring these soccer balls to the kids through a donation. Let me know. We are so honored to be a small part of bringing joy and light to these precious people.
